Ahhh…the 1957 Topps set. This is by far my favorite Topps set of all time. I like the simplistic design and this was the first year that real photos were used and not drawings. The set consists of 407 cards and it took me years to get this one complete in EX or better condition. There are several Hall of Famers in this set including Ted Williams, Willie Mays, Hank Aaron, Sandy Koufax, Mickey Mantle, Brooks Robinson, Frank Robinson, Ernie Banks, Warren Spahn, and many, many others. One could learn a lot about the history of the game by reading the backs of the cards as they are filled with stats and other information.
As far as continuing my project of having one picture or sell sheet from 1951 to present, this is what I have for 1957 which was sent to me by a collector a couple of weeks ago:
I wish I had something better than a wrapper and a box for 1956, but I guess I will just have to use the box and wrapper for now. Maybe something better will come along. My hope is that there is a vintage card collector that stumbles across my little blog and helps me out. If you are that person, email me at firstname.lastname@example.org
