The 1960 Topps set is the third and last time that Topps primarily uses horizontal fronts and backs throughout the set. I like the design of this set and the use of different colors throughout. I'm 92% of the way to completing this monster as I only need 42 cards out of this 572 card set. There are quite a few cards that really stand out as it was hard for me to narrow down my top five cards for 1960. After careful consideration, here are the five I came up with:
1960 Topps #350 Mickey Mantle
The most popular sportscards of the 1950's and 1960's belong to Mickey Mantle so it should be no surprise to see The Mick on my top five list. I really like this card a lot!
1960 Topps #563 Mickey Mantle AS
One of my favorite all-stars of Mickey Mantle, I like the way Topps makes use of shadowing on this card. This card is a shortprinted high number which makes this card rare and not to mention valuable.
1960 Topps #148 Carl Yastrzemski RC
One of the most revered Boston Red Sox Hall of Famers of all time, Yaz was always a fan favorite and a favorite of mine growing up. His rookie card easily makes the way into my top five. However, I do not own this card but hope to soon!
And there you have it! My top five favorite cards of the 1960 Topps set. Do you agree or disagree? I'd love to hear from you. 🙂
