2013 Topps Finest 8 Case Break!

On October 9th, Topps released one of the most popular brand of Topps cards -- Topps Finest. This brand set the mark for premium cards back in 1993 for quality as well as price. The 1993 Topps Finest packs were selling for much as $30 a pack back in 1993 which was the highest price for any current year pack at that time. This is also the first time the term "refractor" was used.

These cards look fantastic! Although, I didn't open up a bunch if this product, I couldn’t help to wonder what cards I would get if I was to open several cases of Topps Finest? Well, I know someone that did so I contacted him to find out what his great pulls were.

Brent Williams has been busting cases of Topps products for years now. He is very active on social media, forums, Ebay, and other places on the internet. So much so that I'm almost convinced that he is more than just one person. :). I have no idea how he does it all but he does. He excels at providing world class customer service as well as giving the hobby useful knowledge about his experiences. So if you are not following him on Twitter, you need to do so. His handle is @brentandbecca.

Recently, I caught up with Brent about his huge 2013 Topps Finest 8 case break. I asked him what he thought his top five cards out of all 8 cases were based on "wow factor". He responded with a list that is as follows...

Editor's Note: Before I begin with his list, I like to say that I try to show the actual cards Brent pulls from his rips and in most cases they are. However, occasionally I am unable to get a pic of the exact card due to the fact that Brent sells some of his pulls offline. So, in a few instances, I may show a card that is very similar to the one he pulled.

Before we dive into the top 5 list, here's a little appetizer in which Brent calls a couple of his "Honorable Mentions".
Honorable Mention: Jason Heyward 1993 Finest Refractor /25

Honorable Mention: Yadier Molina /25

I like these cards as they take me back to 1993 when I was in college. Yes, I'm old. :)

And now on to the TOP FIVE....

5. Derek Jeter Red Refractor 9/25

Here's a nice card of the Captain. Lots of Jeter fans out there so it is no wonder that this card made Brent's list. This card sold for $81.00.

4. Jose Fernandez Red Refractor Autographed Relic /25

Although it is a redemption, this is a very nice pull. Brent sold this card for $98.00 and this card is undervalued in my opinion.

3. Miguel Cabrera Masters Autographed Refractor 3/15

Although it is easy to tell that this has a sticker for an auto, it still does not matter to the majority of collectors out there as sticker autos command quite a bit in the marketplace. This one sold for $200.

2. Yasiel Puig Orange Jumbo Relic Autographed Refractor /99

Puig-mania hasn't slowed down and neither has the demand for his autographs. This particular autographed card sold for $227.50. Which leads us to the #1 card Brent pulled out of eight cases....

It must have been a big thrill pulling this card out of a pack since it is of arguably two of the best young players in baseball. Brent sold this card in a private sale for $450.00.

On the righthand section of my blog you will see a section called "Brent's Case Breaks". There is where I have stored my posts of Brent's case breaks of Topps products and I plan to add more. Back in February 2013, I contacted Brent asking him what his best 10 cards out of 2013 Topps Series One were. Check out that section to find more of his huge case breaks! Also, be sure to look at the Top Ten Most Watched section on the right side to see what is the most watched 2013 Topps Finest card -- updates automatically so be sure to bookmark and add it to your list of favorites.

And so there you have it. For those who have always wondered what kind of cards to expect out of a 8 case break, now you know. Do you think his top five should have yielded better cards considering he opened 8 cases? I'd be interested to know your thoughts. Thank you.
